Do I need to book Saver / Sale rooms in advance?

Yes, Saver rooms need to be booked in advance of when you want to stay.  £19 Saver rooms usually need to be booked at least 21 days in advance.

Sale rooms must also be booked in advance.  Each Sale will include details of how far ahead you must book.
